Concertina wire, often called razor wire coil or barbed tape, is widely recognized as one of the most effective physical barriers for perimeter security. It is commonly used in military areas, prisons, airports, factories, farms, and private properties where strong protection is required.

The wire is produced from galvanized steel strip with a thickness of 0.5–1.5 mm, reinforced by high tensile galvanized steel core wire of 2.5–3.0 mm. Concertina wire is available in diameters of 450 mm, 500 mm, 600 mm, 730 mm, 900 mm, and 980 mm. After stretching, the diameter is reduced slightly (around 5–10%).
